Simply Superb. Peter May paints an incredibly detailed portrait of life on the western isles of Scotland. The harshness of the landscape and weather, the toughness of the islanders trying to make a living but yet the warmth of them as human beings. This great story is obviously written by someone who has a great love of Lewis and the other islands. It is also a really good detective story. Hugely atmospheric and engrossing, it is quite simply one of the best books I have read in a very long time. You really should read it!
